She

Like5Dislike1

She (who is actually a “he”, Lain Trzaska) produces electronic music, with hints of chiptune and an ever-present, but subtle Japanese influence. All of she’s releases can be downloaded from here, except for Orion, which you can buy here. (There’s no link for Coloris, but it can be downloaded too.)

I had no idea what to post today, but Robot Koch saves the day with these excellent promo tracks. His new full-length album will be out on October 1st, it’s worth not forgetting about.

Just when I think there’s nothing special going on in terms of music, Lemâitre releases yet another song. Trust me, these guys are going places very soon.

The XX Remix Album

Like0Dislike0

Before we get started: it was compiled by me, meaning it’s unofficial.

I had the idea a few days ago: some artists are so hyped that every song of their album(s) is possibily remixed, so why not make an “alternative album” of it, with the same tracks in the same order, only remixed.

And since hype and The xx go hand in hand, it was obvious what to start with. Some of the songs had very few remixes (i.e.: one or two), so if you don’t like something it’s not necessarily my fault. You might see more of these in the future, who knows.

Tracklist:

No. Title Length
1. Intro (Deep Focus Remix) 4:48
2. VCR (Matthew Dear Remix) 4:50
3. Crystalised (Popular Damage Assimilation Remix) 4:39
4. Islands (Nosaj Thing Remix) 2:25
5. Heart Skipped A Beat (Diwon Remix) 4:08
6. Fantasy (Ben White Remix) 5:06
7. Shelter (Death To The Throne Remix) 6:02
8. Basic Space (Sampha Remix) 3:44
9. Infinity (Flufftronix Remix) 5:48
10. Night Time (What Kind Of Breeze Do You Blow? Remix) 8:38
11. Stars (Dave Wrangler Remix) 5:38

Venetian Snares

Venetian Snares (also known as Aaron Funk) is one of my recent discoveries, despite that he’s been around for more than a decade now. While his work falls decisively into the breakcore genre, some of his music also feature other genres, notably classical. Among his 22 albums the most acclaimed is “Rossz Csillag Alatt Született“, worth buying indeed.

I don’t usually do bonuses, but this is the soundtrack of the (still-in-development) video game Edge of Twilight’s trailer, “Someone Special”; composed by Mick Gordon.

I Blame Sky Ferreira

Coco Sumner – daughter of Sting it figures – is a girl you should keep an eye out for. She already has two singles out under the name “I Blame Coco”, and a debut album is coming right up in October.

You might’ve already heard La Roux‘s “Self Machine” remix in the Musigh Mystery Mix, now it was Joe‘s turn to make a video of it (see above). There’s also an official with her eye-catchingly androgynous looks.

And while we’re at female singers, Sky Ferreira shows just as much promise as Coco. After several covers and the single “17“, she’s already signed with Parlophone for her next single “One“, which needless to say is filled with remixes beyond awesome (i.e.: Logistics, BAR9, TEED, Style of Eye). Her debut will only be out some time in 2011 though, ouch.

As we are waiting for Monarchy‘s self-titled album, more and more ”Love Get Out Of My Way” remixes appear by names like Treasure Fingers, Holy Ghost!, Benny Benassi, Sinden and so on. Here’s the latter and their very first demo, “Black The Colour Of My Heart”.
